Silverback hunters should be familiar with the “pigpen” or masonic cipher,
which is a simple substitution cipher exchanging letters for symbols
based on a grid.
This cipher can be used to decrypt directions and secret codewords at FBZ geocaches!
Having just joined in earnest the Missions I wanted to post something about this particular one at this particular time because of interesting conditions.
We headed up here not even thinking about the recent weather and we were greeted with lots and lots of snow! This made traffic a slight headache while heading up the hill, but in the end it only probably cost us a little over 10 minutes. To be clear, the road was not affected and was clear and mostly dry.
Then we got to thinking about where the cache was and wondering if we were going to have to be in 'recovery' mode! lol. It was a combination of slushy and crunchy on the way up the trail Had to pay attention to nearby trees that were sloughing snow off the branches as well. We paid attention to the WP's and even with the snow cover we were able to discern where to go and then tiptoe or more accurately bulldog our way over and in to GZ.
We were greeted with a spectacular view and the cache! We didn't have to do any shoveling (thank you) :) and all was well with the cache. Just had to not be distracted by the view.
Great stuff. All being said, I don't know how much more snow is coming, just be aware if you head up the mountain at this time to be prepared.
Cheers
